The role

We are looking for a dynamic Head of Data Analysis and Insight (DAI) to lead a team of 6 analysts. Our DAI team sits across finance, planning, and analytics, and is dedicated to supporting the university with data-driven insights and recommendations. Working on a wide range of topics that will require strong research, problem-solving and analytical skills, you will gather and interpret complex data, resulting in high-quality information that will inform decision-making.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide high-quality reporting, analysis and information to university stakeholders to support key processes such as student recruitment and enrollment and identify performance improvement opportunities.
  • Build and develop relationships across professional services and with key contacts in our academic community to maximize the value of your team’s data, analytical capabilities and tools and to respond accurately and quickly to requests and priorities.
  • Investigate and implement innovative ways to increase the University’s access to data and information to support better decision-making.
  • Help your team become experts in data storytelling and visualization, so more business users and partners can engage with insights.

This role will allow you to shape the work of a team of skilled analysts with an excellent reputation within the university.

We are looking for:

  • A seasoned analytical and insightful professional, passionate about data, eager to learn and grow, and eager to provide excellent service to our colleagues at the University.
  • Experience working with large datasets to produce insights is a must – this means you will need to have extensive experience and solid experience in using analytical tools such as PowerBI and Alteryx or similar, and Excel skills advancements.
  • Someone with good people skills who can lead and inspire their team and be confident in managing relationships with key stakeholders.
  • You will need to be able to influence others, exercise good judgment and excellent written and verbal communication skills to be able to share ideas, proposals and issues with a range of senior colleagues.
  • Having a higher education background and previous experience working with student data is highly beneficial but not essential. However, having an interest in this sector and a desire to learn more is essential.
