Emerson Electric: Analyzer Provides Safe Vibration Data Collection in Hazardous Environments

KNOXVILLE, TENN (February 4, 2016) – Emerson Process Management’s CSI 2140 Machine Condition Analyzer has received ATEX and IECEx Zone 2 certification, allowing the next-generation handheld vibration analyzer to be used in hazardous environments. The CSI 2140 collects all the data necessary to assess the condition of a machine in the shortest possible time, so that the user can limit the time he has to spend in hazardous environments.

ATEX and IECEx standards cover a range of technologies from power generation to marine energy and involve a detailed process of examining, testing and evaluating equipment intended for use in potentially hazardous areas.

Emerson’s CSI 2140, which is already CSA certified for use in most hazardous industrial areas in the United States and Canada, provides early indication of bearing and transmission faults before they can cause machine breakdowns. Its unique PeakVue™ signal processing methodology reduces the complexity of machine analysis to provide simple and reliable indication of equipment status.

“These approvals certify the CSI 2140 for use in most hazardous locations,” said Tom E. Nelson, senior director of CSI 2140 technology at Emerson. “But the speed at which the user can move through the danger zone and back to safer areas is equally important. Emerson is committed to providing its customers with products and services that increase security and availability.
